Eric Chavez
Eric Chavez is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counsleor (LPCC) and a Certified Employee Assistance Professional (CEAP). He comes to CARS from UNM Hospital's Alcohol and Substance Abuse Program (ASAP) where he provided counseling services for five years. Eric has been practicing as a clinican since 2010 in a variety of treatment settings, providing counseling to individuals and couples as well geratric psychotherapy.
Eric has a wide range of clinical experience providing group and individual counseling in a variety of settings, which include: community mental health, long-term care facilities, and private practice. He has also worked in public service, advocating for children with disabilities in the public school, mental health, and correctional settings
Eric is a native New Mexican, growing up in Albuquerque’s South Valley, where his family has lived for several generations. He graduated from the College of Santa Fe, Magna Cum Laude, with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, while working full time for the State of New Mexico as a paralegal for the Child Support Enforcement Division. Eric then attended Webster University where he graduated with distinction, receiving his Master’s degree in Clinical and Community Counseling.
Eric is excited to be a part of the University of New Mexico community and welcomes the opportunity to assist the faculty and staff to grow and thrive both personally and professionally.
