CARS Services

The CARS program offers a highly professional, confidential source of help for faculty and staff at UNM. The following direct services are provided:

  • Individual and couples counseling
  • Supervisory consultations with organization leadership
  • Crisis intervention during business hours
  • Seminars and workshops
  • Departmental in-service training

Some of the issues that CARS can address:

  • Relationship difficulties
  • Stress and job burnout
  • Anxiety and depression
  • Eldercare
  • Coworker conflicts
  • Career concerns
  • Alcohol or other drug abuse
  • Managing change
  • Grief and loss issues
  • Preparing for retirement
  • Negotiating organizational systems

Due to limited staff resources and only being able to provide short term counseling we are sorry to say we cannot provide counseling services for staff/faculty/retiree's family members. What we recommend is that if you need help dealing with an issue which involves a family member that you schedule an appointment to come in for an individual counseling session. During that appointment you can then speak with one of our clinician's in detail about your family members specific issues. After which you can then get a targeted referral for an outside organization in the greater Albuquerque area that can provide you the needed counseling services for your family member which accepts your insurance.
